Once the playground for a host of gods and their creations, the world known as Déchiré was born in blood and remains bathed in it still. Its landmasses torn asunder during the departure of the vengeful Getu, the island continents now float alone - or so each believes - in the raging seas.

Seperated by endless miles of ocean, they have evolved independently of one another. Lacking the means by which to reproduce technologies destroyed in the Rending, they have by and large have reverted to more primitive states of being. Some have resisted the cyclical advances of time and linger as societies not unlike the ancient civilizations of Earth, while others have marched on - however, none have yet approached a truly modern enlightenment.
